I utställningen presenteras en ny serie fotografier tagna av Erik Viklund under ett residens 2023 i Djura, en by på Dalarnas landsbygd. Genom att bli guidad av platsens historia, undersöker och inspireras Viklund av den lokala fotografen Hans Per Pehrson´s (1876-1959) fotografiska gärning. 

Viklunds arbeten utgår ofta från plats, men framför allt från möten med människor på dessa platser. Genom fotografi som medium och metod, dess möjligheter men även dess fysiska begränsningar, söker han fånga motiv som uttrycker kontakt, ljus och existens.

Utställningen består av en serie fotografier som är tryckta med risografteknik, vilket även fångar upp Viklunds intresse för tryckteknik och papper. Hans fascination för olika tryckmetoder och taktila egenskaper är en central del av hans konstnärliga utforskande av både två- och tredimensionella former, vilka ofta tar sig uttryck i publikationer och artist books.

September tillkom under projektet ”Icke-urbana platser för konst”,  finansierat av Region Dalarna i samarbete med Konstfrämjandet Dalarna samt Leksands kommun.

In the exhibition, a new series of photographs are presented, taken by the artist in 2023 during a residency in Djura, a village in the rural area of Dalecarlia. Guided by the history of the area, Viklund explores and draws inspiration from the work of the local photographer Hans Per Pehrson (1876-1959).

Viklund's work often originates from a place, but primarily from encounters with people in these locations. Through photography as a medium and method, exploring its possibilities as well as its physical limitations, he seeks to capture subjects that express contact, light, and existence.

The exhibition consists of a series of photographs printed using risograph technique, which also reflects Viklund's interest in printing techniques and paper. His fascination with various printing methods and tactile qualities is a central part of his artistic exploration of both two- and three-dimensional forms, often manifested through publications and artist books.

September was created as part of the project "Non-Urban Places for Art," funded by Region Dalarna in collaboration with Konstfrämjandet Dalarna and Leksand municipality.
